Here’s one scenario: You are visiting your parents for the Holidays and didn’t realize all of your siblings are coming as well. Surprise! Predictably behaviors revert back to high school or worse. This is a setting for disaster. What can you do differently? First of all anticipate this issue. Remember you are “all grown up” and don’t need to engage in childish behavior. Before you meet the family, take a deep breath, “tap” on the sternum in the center of your chest, and say:
“Even though my family makes me crazy, I love them and choose to react in a new more healthy way.”
(Keep tapping) “Even though this family behavior has been going on for such a long time, I choose to let go of the old patterns, and react in a loving, accepting way.”
(Keep tapping) “I choose to relax, let go of my old ineffective reactions and enjoy my family.”
” I’m going to be late for my appointment.”
“The cashier is so slow and driving me crazy.”
“This line is soooo long.”
(Find the two inside ends of your collarbone. Drop down to the hollow below, and using your thumb and middle finger, tap at a comfortable speed and pressure.)
Take a deep breath and tap for about 30 seconds saying to yourself, “I let go and relax.” No one will notice this; and if they do, so what! You can say, “I’m doing my relaxing exercise.” Check your anxiety level after half a minute. If you are not feeling relaxed enough, tap for another 30 seconds. This is easy and it works!
Next week we’ll talk about family stress during the holidays and what we can do to change those old predictable patterns that push our buttons. See you then and keep tapping!
The BREATH. Right, you say, I breathe all the time. That’s too easy. My reply: “conscious” breathing is way different. Soooo, wherever you are, get into a safe, comfortable place (don’t do this while driving). Sit, or lie down. Slowly close your eyes. Take a big breath IN, filling your lungs as full as you can. Notice how your chest expands, stretching and relaxing the muscles in your upper back, arms and chest. Then exhale out all the air, slowly. Feel yourself sink into whatever you are sitting or lying on. Repeat this 5 times, following the breath with your mind’s eye. Slowly. Now, slowly open your eyes. Note how you are feeling. Take a minute, then resume your activity. Practice makes perfect. Enjoy the relaxation!
Let’s get a handle on why the “Holidays” fill us with dread or anxiety or depression or…..you name it. Many people would rather skip the festivities completely. They often bring up family issues, worry about money, need to be the perfect host or hostess, feelings of loneliness because of distance from loved ones.
For the next few weeks we are going to focus on identifying the negative triggers that get in the way of enjoying the holiday season, so that we can get rid of them once and for all. Sound like a lot of work, perhaps even an impossibility? Stay tuned. The tools and techniques that will be explained and demonstrated are not only easy but enjoyable as well. They can also be used at other difficult times in your lives, not only at the holiday season.
Bruce Lipton – The Tapping Solution
Have you ever had something deep seeded into your psyche that has held you back? You’re not even sure where the fear or concern came from, but it’s there. How do you push forward and move on when you hit these barriers?
Well, recently a client and friend came to me with exactly this concern. She was generous enough to allow me to record our tapping session to share it with you guys. Check us out as we tap for change.
As I said in the video, moving forward doesn’t require delving deep into your mind to find out what caused the concern to happen in the first place. It simply requires you feel good about your decision to move forward. By spending time addressing her fear of lack of financial stability (something many of us share) through EFT, we were able to cut her fear in half. As we continue to tap through the issue, her confidence in herself and her choice to move forward will continue to grow, allowing her to move on. Isn’t that what we all want?
Is there anything you’re trying to move on from? I’m ready, willing and able to help. All you have to do is take the first step…reach out to me via Email, Twitter, Facebook….whichever way you feel comfortable.
